Turn Your Bathroom Into A Much Safer One

Lawrence Robinson

Your bathroom is one of the most dangerous rooms in your home next to the kitchen. You have a small space, slippery surfaces, and water. All of these things come together to create many different ways for accidents to happen. For this reason, you want to make sure you take all the steps possible to help prevent anyone who goes into your bathroom from having an accident. The information you will read below will teach you about different things you can do to turn your bathroom into a much safer space.

Put a grab bar in the bathtub or shower

Even if no one in your home has physical limitations or mobility issues, it is still a fantastic idea for you to have a grab bar installed on the wall of your bath or shower. Anyone can slip and fall when they go to get in the tub or when they go to get out of it. Just having a bar to grab on to can significantly decrease that fall risk. This is a very simple change you can make to your bathroom that can make a world of difference to the safety everyone can expect when they go to get clean.

Turn your flooring into non-slip flooring

Some people use bathmats on their bathroom floors and assume that this is going to be all it takes in order to prevent someone from slipping on a wet floor. However, the bath mats create their own risk because it is easy for you to trip over the corner of the rug. Also, the rugs get wet and then that water can lead to mildew growth. A much better way for you to make your floor safer is to turn the current flooring into non-slip flooring by applying a non-slip product on it that will dry clear while creating a slight roughness to the floor to prevent those slip and fall accidents when the floor is wet, or even when you go into the bathroom wearing slippery socks.

Have the bathroom door installed, so it opens outwardly

You should take off the current bathroom door and the door frame, then have them installed, so they open outward. Just about all bathrooms will have doors that open inward, into the bathroom. In small to even medium sized bathrooms, this can be a big danger. Should someone have an accident or another health crisis in the bathroom and be lying on the floor, you may not be able to open the door to get to them, and this can be a very dangerous crisis. By switching the door to open outward, you would simply be able to pull the door open and get to them right away.

About Me
Window Cleaning Time

For many people, spring is a time for cleaning. I am one of these people. Once warm weather arrives, I feel energized and ready to conquer the large list of cleaning chores that usually need to be completed around my home. One of the chores I always complete during the spring months is window cleaning. I am ashamed to admit that I don’t ever clean my windows during the cold weather months. Because I’m extremely cold natured, I won’t venture outside to scrub my windows in the winter. If you’re making a spring cleaning list, don’t forget to put your windows on it. On this blog, you will discover why spring is the best time of the year to clean your windows.
