When they're sparkling clean and streak-free, glass shower doors can make your bathroom look sleek and elegant. Glass shower doors are appropriate for any bathroom in your home, from the master to the guest bathroom, and are easy to care for using a few simple tricks and tips.
There are many different types of shower doors to choose from, depending on your specific design style and home improvement budget. One of the most popular styles is the clear glass door, which has high clarity and a modern appearance.
As another shower door option, you can go with frosted glass. Frosted glass is a good choice if you prefer more privacy and a more opaque look. The glass is etched to produce a milky appearance, while still allowing light to enter the shower.
Rain glass, which is designed to resemble dripping water, has a decorative look and also offers more privacy than traditional clear shower doors. Another benefit of rain glass is that it can conceal streaking, fingerprints and even unsightly mineral deposits. Additional types of shower doors include bronze and gray glass, if you desire a darker glass.
No matter what type of glass your shower doors feature, there are several simple ways that you can clean and maintain them. Here are some tips for sparkling clean doors:
Daily Basis
1. Squeegee
After each shower, use a squeegee with a rubber blade to remove excess water. Starting at the top of the door and working your way down in a straight line, run the squeegee slowly over the glass. Continue across the door, working from top to bottom, overlapping the ends to avoid streaking.
Using the squeegee will prevent deposits from building up, as well as hard water spots and stains.
2. Shower Spray
Another way to banish hard water deposits and mildew from forming is to treat your glass shower doors with a daily spray cleaner. After removing the excess water, lightly mist the glass with the spray and leave the shower door slightly ajar to air-dry.
Weekly Basis
1. At least once a week, deep-clean any glass shower doors that you use on a daily basis. One way to do this without the use of harsh chemicals is by mixing a 50/50 solution of water and distilled white vinegar in a spray bottle, and applying it evenly over the dry glass.
Allow the vinegar solution to rest on the glass for five minutes, and then wipe the door dry with a soft, clean microfiber cloth.

For many people, spring is a time for cleaning. I am one of these people. Once warm weather arrives, I feel energized and ready to conquer the large list of cleaning chores that usually need to be completed around my home. One of the chores I always complete during the spring months is window cleaning. I am ashamed to admit that I don’t ever clean my windows during the cold weather months. Because I’m extremely cold natured, I won’t venture outside to scrub my windows in the winter. If you’re making a spring cleaning list, don’t forget to put your windows on it. On this blog, you will discover why spring is the best time of the year to clean your windows.
